Tiffin University Faculty to Host Lecture & Workshop with Dr. Paul Hanstedt

On Friday, May 6 at 9 a.m. in the Marion Center, Tiffin University faculty will welcome guest lecturer Dr. Paul Hanstedt, author of “Creating Wicked Students: Designing Courses for a Complex World.” Dr. Hanstedt will deliver a lecture entitled “Creating Wicked Students: Higher Education in the Age of COVID,” focused on showing educators how to best prepare students to meet the new and intricate demands of their fields sparked by the pandemic. TU’s partnering institutions including Lourdes University, Terra State Community College, Heidelberg University and Mercy College are invited to join for this portion of the event, which is also free and open to the public. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and introductions.

Following the presentation, TU faculty will reconvene in the Osceola Theatre at 10:30 a.m. for an in-depth workshop also hosted by Dr. Hanstedt, entitled “Creating Wicked Students: Designing Courses for a Complex World.”

Dr. Paul Hanstedt is the founding director of the Houston H. Harte Center for Teaching and Learning at Washington & Lee University in Virginia. He has worked with dozens of universities on four continents to support curricular and pedagogical reform and innovation. He has received multiple teaching awards and has authored several books, including “General Education Essentials” and “Creating Wicked Students.” He is also the author of “Hong Konged,” a travel memoir documenting his year in Asia with his three small children.
