Be a Tourist in Your Own Town

Friday, April 19, 2024 - 12:00pm

Destination Seneca County, in partnership with the Seneca County Bicentennial Committee, has announced that Be a Tourist in Your Own Town is returning for a second year. This initiative allows Seneca County residents the opportunity to be immersed in all that the community has to offer during Seneca County’s Bicentennial Year.

During the weekend of April 19, 20, and 21, residents can enjoy free admission to most museums and galleries along with several experiences throughout the county from 12 to 4 PM. Donations are accepted and encouraged.

Participants will have the opportunity to win more than $500 in prizes by completing a passport that will allow them the opportunity to explore at least two experiences and at least six attractions. Passports can be found online at www.SenecaTourist.com, picked up at the 24/7 Seneca County Welcome Center at 96 South Washington Street, or they can be picked up at one of the five experience locations starting April 19. Passports must be returned to an experience location to be entered into the prize drawing.

Experiences include an interactive presentation at the Fostoria Iron Triangle Railpark, a live glass cutting demonstration at the Hawkes Crystal workshop, a live glass blowing demonstration with Ryan Poignon at the Poignon Project, an interactive horse experience at Lane of Dreams Farm, and a behind-the-scenes tour of The Ritz Theatre. Experiences will begin every hour on the hour at 12, 1, 2, and 3 PM. The Ritz Theatre tour will only take place on Sunday due to a show and the Lane of Dreams experience will be 1 to 4 PM on Sunday, April 21, due to a previously scheduled horse show.

Attractions include the American Civil War Museum of Ohio, Diane Kidd Gallery at Tiffin University, The Enchanted Moment Doll Museum & Gift Shoppe, Fostoria Community Arts Council Gallery, Foster’s Museum on Main, Fostoria Area Historical Museum, Fostoria Glass Heritage Gallery, Hawkes Crystal storefront, Lake Erie & Western Depot, Stemtown Historical Society Museum, Tiffin Art Guild & Gallery, Tiffin Glass Museum & Shoppe, Tiffin Historic Trust/Grammes Brown House, Wesley Memorial Art Gallery, and the Seneca County Museum.
