Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 is scheduled to visit Fostoria on June 6 & July 14 during its Coast-to-Coast Tour Eastern Leg celebrating America’s 250th. Schedule details are subject to change, and additional information will be added as planning continues.

Saturday, June 6

Big Boy No. 4014 is expected to arrive near the Fostoria Iron Triangle Rail Park at approximately 2:00 PM and depart around 2:15 PM. Times may change due to rail traffic or other conditions.

Tuesday, July 14

Big Boy No. 4014 is scheduled to be on public display from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Norfolk Southern Fostoria Automotive Distribution Center.

Wednesday, July 15

The train is scheduled to depart Fostoria at 9:00 AM westbound. There are currently no plans for it to stop at the Rail Park during this departure.

Big Boy Route Through Fostoria

Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 is expected to enter Fostoria from the east and travel west through the city before departing toward its next destination. The route shown below is provided for reference and is subject to change based on railroad operations and traffic conditions.

Railroad Safety Reminder

Always stay at least 25 feet back from railroad tracks. This includes while waiting for Big Boy No. 4014, taking photographs, or viewing the train from public areas.

Railroad property is private property. Never stand on the tracks, cross tracks except at designated crossings, climb on railroad equipment, or attempt to approach the locomotive.

Local law enforcement and railroad personnel will be monitoring viewing areas to help ensure a safe experience for everyone.

Visitors will have opportunities to view Big Boy No. 4014 during its June 6th pass-through near the Fostoria Iron Triangle Rail Park and during the July 14th public display at the Norfolk Southern Fostoria Automotive Distribution Center.

Parking is available throughout Fostoria on a first-come, first-served basis. All parking locations listed below are free of charge. Visitors are encouraged to review the parking guide before arriving and save a screenshot for quick reference during their visit.

  • Parking permitted in lot and designated grass areas
  • No parking on fields or blocking entrances

Free Shuttle Service

Shuttle service will operate between the Fostoria Jr./Sr. High School parking area and the Iron Triangle Rail Park.

Operating Hours:
10:00 AM – 4:45 PM

No Shuttle Service:
2:15 PM – 3:00 PM

Pick-Up Location:
Access road between the South Parking Lot and Legacy Hall.

Overflow Parking Transportation & Paid Shuttle Option

If parking at the Iron Triangle Rail Park reaches capacity, the entrance will be closed and overflow traffic will be directed to the Fostoria Elementary & Middle School parking lots.

School buses will transport visitors between the school parking lots and Iron Triangle Rail Park.

  • Cost: $5 per person round trip
Important: This shuttle service will only be activated if parking at Iron Triangle Rail Park fills and overflow parking becomes necessary.

  • Street parking is available throughout Fostoria where legally permitted.
  • Parking is first come, first served.
  • Do not block intersections, railroad crossings, driveways, or emergency access routes.
  • Accessible parking requires a valid handicap placard.
  • Allow extra time for walking and shuttle transportation.

Fostoria Habitat for Humanity Lots
A paid parking option will be available near the Iron Triangle Rail Park as a fundraiser supporting Fostoria Habitat for Humanity.

Suggested Donation: $20 per vehicle, per day

Walking Distance: Approximately 0.1 miles to the Iron Triangle Rail Park

Parking is first come, first served. Parking will be available in grassy areas, and volunteers will direct vehicles. Please do not block intersections, crossings, or driveways.

Big Boy Experience Guidelines

Help us make the Big Boy 4014 visit safe, enjoyable, and memorable for everyone attending.

✔ Do

  • Stay at least 25 feet back from railroad tracks.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Bring water, sunscreen, snacks, and lawn chairs.
  • Follow directions from staff and law enforcement.
  • Be patient and courteous with fellow visitors.
  • Support local businesses while you’re in town.

⚠ Don’t

  • No drones.
  • No trespassing on railroad or private property.
  • No standing or walking on railroad tracks.
  • No blocking streets, crossings, or driveways.
  • No littering.

Camping Restrictions

Temporary restrictions will be in place at the Fostoria Rail Park during the Big Boy visits. Camping, RVs, campers, and other large vehicles will not be permitted during the restricted dates.

Visitors should remove RVs, campers, and related vehicles from the Rail Park before these dates.

When is Big Boy 4014 coming to Fostoria?

Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 is scheduled to visit Fostoria twice during its Coast-to-Coast Tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. The locomotive is expected to pass through the Fostoria Iron Triangle Rail Park area on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 2:00 PM before departing around 2:15 PM. Big Boy No. 4014 will then return to Fostoria on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, for a public display from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Norfolk Southern Fostoria Automotive Distribution Center.

Can I bring an RV or camper?

RVs, campers, trailers, and certain oversized vehicles will not be permitted in restricted areas during designated dates surrounding the event.
